1st day: CHIARAVALLE ABBEY, CASTELL'ARQUATO
Meeting with the guide and departure for Chiaravalle, for an exceptional guided tour of the Cistercian Abbey of Chiaravalle della Colomba, founded in 1135 by San Bernardo. Visiting this magnificent place of worship combines the architectural splendor of the Romanesque-Gothic style with the spiritual and hard-working lifestyle of the monks who populate it. Its cloister intact on all sides is one of the best preserved among the Cistercian abbeys, the church with simple terracotta lines favors silence and prayer. Continue to Castell'Arquato where a suggestive and spectacular village awaits you with its profile of towers, bell towers and battlements in the background of the luxuriant nature, characterized by narrow alleys, vaults and winding stairways where it is nice to get lost embracing the person of the heart . Because romance is at home here. It is encountered at every corner, in the narrow alleys cut out between the stones of the houses, in the red bricks and in the enchantment of the internal courtyards, motionless and silent like sculpted images. Lunch in a restaurant, accommodation and dinner at the hotel.
2nd day: PIACENZA, GRAZZANO VISCONTI
Departure for Piacenza and guided tour of the city located along the Via Francigena, called by Leonardo Da Vinci "land of passage". By its very location, at the crossroads between four regions, it is, in fact, the gateway to Emilia, founded on the banks of the Po and enclosed in the embrace of the hills and mountains of the Apennines. Colonia Romana, later an important medieval center, has always been an ideal stop in the passage of princes and pilgrims, crusaders and Templars, traders and artists who left their mark here. With the Farnese dynasty it was the capital of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza.
Continuation to Grazzano Visconti and guided tour of the town defined as an "unreal country in reality" as a high recognition of the Emilia Romagna region for a cultural and tourist reality, very true. Ghosts, monumental trees, a castle with a large park (exteriors), a luxuriant frame of centuries-old trees, statues, avenues and fountains are elements of attraction to a city with buildings that respond in all respects to medieval stylistic lines.
